Chabrot’s film is based on a real-life case in 1900s America, transposed to contemporary Lyon. A sly playful satire of the haute bourgeoisie world of publishing with elegant direction and fine performances. The film is filled with women who know far more than they let on. Ludvine Sagnier is the girl of title, torn between libertine writer and volatile playboy.
