An Inspector Calls

An Inspector Calls

Superb 1954 adaptation of JB Priestly’s long-running stage play set at the turn of the last century benefits from a typically delightful performance from Alistair Sim (who, by the way, lived for a time next door to the Filmhouse on Lothian Road) as the titular policeman investigating the death of a woman at the home of a wealthy industrialist. As Sim’s Inspector Goole interviews each member of the household, a series of flashbacks reveal exactly how and why the woman died.

Filmhouse, Edinburgh on Sat 26 and Sun 27 Dec.
