Owen Wilson recovering in hospital

The actor Owen Wilson is recovering in hospital amid media reports he attempted to commit suicide at his home in Santa Monica.

A spokeswoman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles said yesterday that the star of Wedding Crashers and critically acclaimed The Royal Tenenbaums was in good condition.

The 38-year-old released a statement through publicist Ina Treciokas, which read: 'I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.'
