Crowe plans to be baptised this year

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe is planning to be baptised in the Byzantine chapel he had built for his wedding to Danielle Spencer in 2003.

The star of a Beautiful Mind and LA Confidential said in a magazine interview that both his sons had been baptised there.

‘There is something much bigger that drives us all. I’m willing to take that leap of faith.’

He added: ‘I’d like to do it this year.’

Crowe, who is currently starring in American Gangster with Denzel Washington, said of his bad-boy reputation.

‘Look, I call a spade a spade. I don’t deny that.

‘But my intention, for want of a better word, is a certain purity.’
