In this prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 horror classic, Norwegian researchers in Antarctica discover a bloodthirsty alien which imitates human life-forms. Derivative and shapeless, with slack dialogue, vacuous characters and a less-than-impressive Thing, this is not so much homage as rip-off.
