Adaptation of Tolstoy's classic novel, in which the title character (Knightley) has an affair with an army officer (Taylor-Johnson). Despite lush photography and a charismatic (if low-key) performance by Knightley, the clever design and theatrical presentation make the characters seem spoiled and shallow, and rob the story of impact.
