The Romance of Astrea and Celadon

For the first and possibly last chance to see Eric Rohmer’s new film at the cinema you may have to skive off work as these screenings are matinees only. Veteran arch romanticist and post New Wave legend Rohmer is not everyone’s cup of tea and his newest film has all the best and worst traits of his peculiar style (no soundtrack music, no close-ups, bucolic setting, long conversations between beautiful young people), but if escapism and pretension is what you seek then this is as good a place as anywhere to stave off the cold.

Cameo, Edinburgh, Fri 31 Oct–Thu 6 Nov (matinee only)
