New trailer for Danish comedy Klown

Filthy, funny antics that diverge from Scandinavia's current reputation for serious TV drama

Every now and then, something comes along that makes you laugh, wince and sneeze coffee through your nostrils, in that order. Today, that experience comes courtesy of the trailer for Danish comedy Klown.

The film follows Frank (Frank Hvam) and Casper (Casper Christensen), two friends who embark on a weekend of debauchery with Frank's 12 year old nephew Bo (Marcuz Jess Petersen) along for the ride. Judging from what you can see in the trailer (which is very, VERY unsuitable for the workplace, or if your mum's in the room), having a nipper along doesn't dent their plans one jot.

The film is a spin-off from a pre-existing TV series in Denmark that ran from 2005-2009. Director Mikkel Nørgaard may be more recognisable for his work on political drama Borgen, although the dark, Scandi-drama tone he strikes on that show is a far cry from the comic shenanigans on display here. It's a disparity referenced at the start of the clip, when the film is credited as coming from the folks behind Melancholia and Dancer in the Dark.

Klown got a domestic release in Denmark at the tail-end of 2012, and is set for a US release in July 2012. Fingers crossed it gets UK distribution too.
