Stone rolls back round to ‘Nam
- 30 August 2007
Oliver Stone is to return to his favourite subject of all with his new project Pinkville.
The Platoon director has already signed up Bruce Willis to star in his adaptation of the life story of General William R Peers, the soldier who launched the My Lai Massacre in which 350,000 civilians were killed by US soldiers.
The cheery knockabout comedy musical is also likely to see Step Up’s Channing Tatum appear as Army chopper pilot Hugh Thompson who rescued civilians and testified against the attackers.
There’s also talk of Michael Pena, who last teamed up with Stone for World Trade Center, playing Captain Ernest Medina who commanded the troops responsible for the massacre but managed to escape charges.
And it won’t really be a musical comedy, that was just silliness.
