Go-kart Race 2000?
- 13 September 2007
The planned ‘re-imagining’ of the Roger Corman cult classic Death Race 2000 has taken something of an odd direction.
Rather than a brutal cross-USA road race where your Sylvester Stallones and your David Carradines gain points for mowing down civilians, we’ve now got Lovejoy presiding over an indoor event set in a prison.
The first reaction to such a revelation would be: dear lord what an appalling idea, I demand my money back despite not actually having spent any as yet.
However, Ian McShane would have us think differently, here he is talking it up: “This is even more violent. This is set in the future, it’s like NASCAR to the death inside prison. On TV. And I play the guy who runs the race, coaches the racers, from inside prison. It’s a lot of fun.”
Sorry Ian, but it still sounds rubbish.
