Scorsese signs up to make George Harrison documentary

Martin Scorsese has reportedly signed up to make a film about George Harrison, with the former Beatle’s widow Olivia expected to help produce the documentary.

The film will deal with Harrison’s time in the band as well as his solo career and movie interests. He famously stepped in with funding for Monty Python’s Life of Brian, also later investing in Time Bandits.

Scorsese also plans to cover Harrison’s spiritual beliefs, commenting: “I’m looking forward to delving deeper.”

It is not the first time Scorsese has taken on such a project, having recently made documentaries about Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones.

Olivia Harrison said: “It would have given George great joy to know that Martin Scorsese has agreed to tell his story.”

Interviews and production for the film will begin later in the year.
