- 17 October 2007
The story of a rat working as a chef in a Parisian restaurant has leapt to the top of the UK and Irish box office in its opening weekend.
Animated adventure Ratatouille took a tasty £4.4 million over the three days, knocking Ben Stiller’s The Heartbreak Kid off the top spot to number three.
The Disney/Pixar movie, which was written and directed by creator of The Incredibles Brad Bird, has enjoyed rave reviews since its international release this summer.
Taking second place at the Box Office, according to Screen International, was new release Resident Evil 3.
The film, which is based on the hugely successful video franchise and stars zombie slaying Milla Jovovich, took a measly £931,991 in comparison.
Saudi Arabia-based FBI thriller The Kingdom took fourth place, followed by Simon Pegg’s Run Fat Boy Run.
