Polanski biopic to start production
An unauthorised biopic of director Roman Polanski is to be brought to the big screen by Damien Chapa, with the title role to be cast within the next few weeks.
The filmmaker will include Polanski’s childhood in Poland during the Holocaust, as well as the murder of his wife, Sharon Tate, in 1969.
In 1977, the Oscar-winning director was convicted of statutory rape in the United States, but fled the country to avoid prison.
Chapa, who will write, produce and direct, said the film would be based on court documents and public domain records.
‘I’ve always been fascinated by his story and couldn’t understand why no-one has done a movie about him.’
