- 9 November 2007
The phrase ‘I’ll be back’ used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator films has topped a list of the most commonly used movie lines.
Rhett Butler’s ‘Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn’ came second in the collection of phrases slipped into everyday conversation.
The survey by myfilms.com listed ‘Beam me up, Scotty’, ‘May the force be with you’ and ‘Life is like a box of chocolates’ third, fourth and fifth respectively.
A spokesman for myfilms.com said: ‘Our research shows the huge influence films have over people, from life-changing experiences to the way we speak.’
Robert De Niro’s menacing ‘You talkin’ to me’ in Taxi Driver was listed sixth in the poll, followed by ‘Show me the money’ from Jerry Maguire and Dirty Harry’s ‘Do you feel lucky, punk?’
The top 10 was rounded off by Casablanca’s classic ‘Here’s looking at you, kid’ and ‘Nobody puts Baby in the corner’ from Dirty Dancing.
