WATCH: 'Growth', the new motion poster for Darren Aronofsky's Noah, is a thing of beauty

A new motion poster for Darren Aronofsky's Noah has just debuted and, while 'motion poster' is usually just a euphemism for 'oddly formatted, super-short trailer with no plot details' this one is actually kind of beautiful. It's titled 'Growth', which will make sense once you've given it 20 seconds of your time.

The biblical blockbuster will tell the tale of Noah (Russell Crowe) and his struggle to build an ark before the planet is flooded. Emma Watson, Jennifer Connolly and Anthony Hopkins star as members of Noah's family, while Ray Winstone appears as Noah's menacing adversary, presumably none too happy at being left behind. The film marks Aronofsky's return to large-scale, fabulistic storytelling following 2006's somewhat abortive The Fountain – he's since made a better name for himself directing more small-scale, human projects like Black Swan and The Wrestler.

Noah will be on general release from Fri 4 Apr.

The story of the ark-building biblical patriarch Noah (Crowe), who in this version believes that God intends the flood as a human genocide. Director Aronofsky crafts an intense conflict between Noah and his own family, making for a compellingly weird and occasionally wonderful story.
