Scottish Independent Film Awards announced

Inaugural awards ceremony to debut at Tartan Features Film Festival

Tartan Features has announced that the first ever Scottish Independent Film Awards will take place at the Tartan Features Film Festival in October.

Brought to you by the people behind the Write Shoot Cut monthly short film screenings in Edinburgh and the Bootleg Film Festival, the Scottish Independent Film Awards will celebrate the best micro-budget films produced in Scotland and across the world.

Festival director Neil Rolland said, ‘Over three days we will help to give a platform to passionate and talented filmmakers who have broken through financial barriers to make their films. We are all about the micro-budget, the skint yet resourceful filmmakers and actors who have pulled together to create great work.’

The awards ceremony is pegged to take place on Sunday 4 October, the last day of the festival.

Tartan Features is a burgeoning open source network of passionate professionals working within the Scottish film industry. Founded by filmmakers of all skills, including actors, directors, cinematographers and producers, this movement could yet prove to be a grassroots solution to an industry that can for many seem like a members-only affair.

Tartan Features Film Festival runs from Fri 2–Sun 4 Oct 2015. Entries can be submitted via FilmFreeway.
