Surprise hit horror flick Outpost will find its way to Dumfries next week, for its European premiere.

The zombie thriller about Nazi soldiers who come back from the dead has been picked up by Sony Pictures for £1.2m. Movie producers Arabella Croft and Kieran Parker, who re-mortgaged and risked £200,000 of their own cash to make the film, shot the horror near Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and in Glasgow last year.

The couple, who run the film company Black Camel Pictures, caught Sony’s attention when the film’s DVD release in the States attracted favourable reviews, and will now help fund screenings of Outpost at 130 cinemas across the UK from May.

Parker said of the unexpected success: ‘We knew what we wanted to do, but no-one was going to invite us to the table. Zombies didn’t save our house, but they may have kick-started our careers.’ The pair are currently planning a sequel, Outpost II: The Red Zone, and new action-thriller, Breathe.
