Everything Flows: Photography on Screen

After It’s Gone – Coulson + Tennant

Street Level Photoworks and Regional Screen Scotland are thrilled to present a special series of digital shorts as part of the wider Everything Flows programme in celebration of Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters. These special screening events on Scotland’s mobile cinema the Screen Machine will take place across four rural locations and feature a range of short films combining stunning imagery and the voices of the artists all projected on the big screen!

The works of Craig Easton, John Maher, David Gordon and Paul Glazier celebrate the interdepency of land and sea, Scotland's islands, people and place, identify and culture. Mandy Barker's tour of 'Our Plastic Ocean' and the award winning short 'Fractured' by Coulson & Tennant alert us to wider global issues, the fragility of our planet and the heightened awareness around climate emergency. Further information on the works and photographers

John Maher – An Alternative View of the Outer Hebrides
 Run time: 11m 27s
Former Buzzcocks drummer turned photographer John Maher returns with an updated Photography on Screen production featuring his iconic photographs of abandoned crofts across Lewis and Harris. The prototype of this work kick-started the partnership between Street Level Photoworks and Regional Screen Scotland 5 years ago!

Paul Glazier – Island
Run time: 4m 59s
Artist Paul Glazier has been visiting the island of Vatersay since 1978, capturing the changing faces as time leaves its mark on the landscape and the island community from the 1980s to the present day.

Craig Easton – SIXTEEN
 Run time: 7m 38s
Craig Easton’s candid portraits of sixteen year olds from the Scottish Islands reveal whom and what they really care about, as well as exploring how landscape and language influences what these young people think they can achieve in life.

David Gordon – Fishing the Minch
Run time: 5m 26s
Photographer David Gordon gives us a fascinating glimpse into a world of work and play that has now all but disappeared. Shot in a classic 35mm black and white documentary style, Gordon’s narrative takes the us from the rough seas of the Atlantic back to his boyhood town of Stornoway in the 1970s.

Mandy Barker – Our Plastic Ocean Exhibition Tour
 Run time: 11m 27s
Award winning artist Mandy Barker gives a special guided tour of her exhibition at Street Level Photoworks, offering insights into her working practice, environmental concerns and the current global crisis of marine plastic pollution.
