When college student Shelby (Moretz) forms a new sorority so that she and her friends can have as much fun as the guys, it annoys their neighbours the Radners (Byrne and Rogen). A fun, feminist sequel with manic energy, an empowering message and a cast gifted with spot-on timing; Moretz especially is having a great time.

When villainous energy magnate Richard Carson questions the validity of the original moon landing, the race is on for NASA to return to the moon and stop Carson rewriting history. Despite a promising theme, this lame CG adventure is lacking in laughs, ideas or charm and just about scrapes by on good intentions.

Florence Foster Jenkins (Streep) is a wealthy, cultured New York socialite, who insists on performing as a soprano in spite of a total inability to sing. Streep throws herself endearingly into the role, Grant is wonderful as her debonair husband and Frears keeps a confident balance of uproarious laughs and genuine pathos.

  • Directed by: Jon Favreau
  • Written by: Justin Marks (screenplay), Rudyard Kipling

You know the story: boy (Sethi) left in woods, adopted by wolves (Nyong'o and Esposito), mentored by panther (Kingsley), befriended by bear (Murray), hunted by tiger (Elba, terrifying). Favreau and his team successfully retool the story with stunning CGI, and a script with heart, soul and spirit. A feelgood delight.

McCarthy's tale of how the Boston Globe's investigation team unearthed cases of sexual abuse and cover-ups within the Catholic church is up there with All the President's Men, with a fine cast (Keaton, McAdams, Ruffalo, Tucci) serving a nuanced, complex script: no one, except the victims, is entirely blameless. Remarkable.

Trailblazing rabbit Judy (Goodwin) goes to the city to join the police, and teams up with con artist fox Nick (Bateman) on the trail of a missing otter. Cheerfully feminist but never preachy, with gorgeous animation and a classy cast, it's a model piece of family entertainment.
