Isabel (Williams) is a charity worker and co-founder of an Indian orphanage who finds that a potential benefactor (Moore) is married to an old flame (Crudup). Blandly polished remake of Susanne Bier’s Oscar-nominated original, which devolves into soap opera-style revelations. Moore is terrific, but it lacks punch..

The Biggest Little Farm

The Biggest Little Farm
  • 2018
  • 1h 31min

  • Directed by: John Chester

A Los Angeles couple give up city life, buying a farm and following their dream of growing every ingredient they might want to cook with. The Biggest Little Farm is enlightening and entertaining, effectively balancing one family’s personal story with the practical ups and downs of starting a sustainable, biodiverse farm on land that has been stripped of nutrients. John and Molly Chester are a smart and charming pair and the film – which benefits from John’s background in cinematography – is a joy to watch. Motivating and magnificent, this environmental documentary is a delight. [PG]

The tale of the 19th century battle to become the company that runs America’s electrical system, featuring mercurial showman Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch) and stolid engineer George Westinghouse (Shannon). Despite elegant cinematography and impressive set-pieces, it feels like an epic saga squashed into a tight canvas; a solid period drama that never quite comes to life.

Willis plays a cop who attends a tower block Christmas party with his estranged spouse. The building is raided by terrorists, so it's left to Willis to bump off the baddies and save the hostages while the police and FBI languish ineptly on the sidelines. Unbearably tense actioner that gets good mileage out of yawning lift-shafts and flying bullets, while Willis is convincing as an ordinary guy trying to cope with it all. Watch out for Brit Rickman as a villain with a sense of humour.

Royal Ballet Live: Swan Lake

The Royal Ballet revives for the first time the recent new production of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent classical ballet. Production and additional choreography by Liam Scarlett and designs by John Macfarlane.

The Story:- Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful woman, Odette, he is enraptured. But she is under a spell that holds her captive, allowing her to regain her human form only at night.

Background:- Liam Scarlett’s glorious production of Swan Lake, new in 2018, returns for its first revival. While remaining faithful to the Marius Petipa/Lev Ivanov text, Scarlett’s additional choreography and John Macfarlane’s magnificent designs breathe new life into what is arguably the best-known and most-loved classical ballet. The entire Company shines in this eternal tale of doomed love, a masterpiece filled with iconic moments. Tchaikovsky’s first score for ballet soars with its symphonic sweep and combines perfectly with exquisite choreography from the grand pas de deux of Prince Siegfried and Odile to the swans at the lakeside. An intoxicating mix of spectacle and intimate passion, the overall effect is irresistible.

Royal Ballet Live: The Dante Project

A Royal Ballet World Premiere - Wayne McGregor collaborates with an award-winning team – contemporary composer Thomas Adès, artist Tacita Dean, lighting designer Lucy Carter and dramaturg Uzma Hameed – to bring us closer to Dante's vision.

Dante’s Divine Comedy is an epic journey through the afterlife: it encompasses the horrifying drama of Inferno and its damned, the lyrical mysticism of pilgrims on mount Purgatorio and the dazzling spheres of Paradiso with their endless configurations of light. The poem was inspired by the agony of Dante’s own exile, and traces his path from crisis to revelation guided by his literary hero Virgil and his lost love Beatrice. In this new work, The Royal Ballet’s trailblazing Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor collaborates with an award-winning team – contemporary composer Thomas Adès, artist Tacita Dean, lighting designer Lucy Carter and dramaturg Uzma Hameed – to bring us closer to Dante and his extraordinary vision.
