Nick Heyward: Woodland Echoes Tour

Following the release of his critically acclaimed new album ‘Woodland Echoes’ that entered at No. 4 in the independent album charts, Nick Heyward has announced a UK tour for 2018. The tour takes in 12 dates starting on 24th May at the Brighton Concorde and culminating on 6th July at Milton Keynes The Stables. Nick is set to release a new single, ‘Perfect Sunday Sun’, on 17th November again via his own label Gladsome Hawk.

His recent live set at this year’s Great Escape Festival praised by Drowned In Sound as “one of the finest we heard all weekend, his second coming is imminent” and his recent full band headline show at 229 received rave reviews by the likes of Metro.

‘Woodland Echoes’, his first record in 18 years, “can't be called a return to form for Heyward because he never lost his form; it just went unheard for years,” as written by All Music within the full star’s review. “Call it a welcome return instead, because the world of pop music always needs music this smart, tuneful, and unabashedly romantic.” Nick Heyward – as perfectly described by Louder Than War is still “a songwriter of the highest order.”

Prior to his hugely successful and prolific solo career, Nick came to prominence as the frontman of percolating pop-funk new wave group Haircut 100, a foundational part of the 80s-pop explosion. They released four UK Top 10 hit singles, with their debut album ‘Pelican West’ reaching no. 2 in the UK album charts, no. 31 in USA’s Billboard 200, and ending up being certified platinum by BPI, with Nick gracing the cover of pacesetting style magazine The Face.

One Night of Elvis - Lee Memphis King

ONE NIGHT OF ELVIS - LEE MEMPHIS KING

There are Elvis tributes….. and then there’s Lee Memphis King.

Lee Memphis King, Europe’s most successful Elvis Presley tribute artist, recreates the essence of the King with consummate ease and an almost unbelievable combination of stunningly accurate vocals and incredible passion in every performance.

Over the last 10 years as Lee has toured his ‘One Night of Elvis’ he has picked up numerous accolades and has headlined and sold out some of the most prestigious venues across the UK and beyond. In August 2016 he completed a sell out concert tour of Israel, performing to over 8000 fans.

In this latest production, Lee Memphis King portrays Elvis Presley at his peak celebrating the iconic ‘Vegas Years’ from 1969 - 1977. Resplendent in the most authentic costumes from Elvis’s performance and an orchestra backing this incredible performer prepare to be taken back in time to see Elvis in the way it was.

This brand new production is dedicated entirely to the ‘Vegas Years’ when Elvis would perform in Las Vegas and tour throughout the US and Canada - the definitive record of these performances are contained in the films ‘Elvis- That’s the Way It Is’, ‘Elvis On Tour’ and the ‘Aloha from Hawaii’ concert.

The show is enhanced by an orchestra of world class musicians and backing vocalists coupled with impressive video screen projection mapping out Elvis’s life and music.

The Truth Mark is 59 - forced into early retirement with stress he passes his time listening to 80s records and observing to the nocturnal happenings outside his flat with increasing levels of anxiety. His life is small. It feels like he's waiting for something. Something not nice.

The Flats Billy Roberts went missing and for a while no-one noticed. Why would they? Tannara

Converging from across the country, Tannara are entangled in Scotland’s rich web of traditions.

They play contemporary Scottish folk music: Considered, complex, arrangements that surround original tunes, modern tunes tunes and traditional ballads.

Collective experience makes their musical approach unique. Despite their material’s modernity, it’s hardwired in spirit to the tradition of which their music is a continuation.

At no point is the music pretty and delicate. On fiddle, harp, guitar, accordion and vocals, Tannara play with a raw energy that brings booming sets of tunes and songs together with moments of knot-in-stomach beauty. It’s four big personalities bouncing off each other to create big sounds.

The result is an electrifying live act. Stonehaven Folk Festival described them as: “One of Scotland’s Brightest Up and Coming Bands”.

The Times: "Tannara blend fiddle, guitar, harp and accordion with sensitivity, dynamic variation and tonal awareness".

Their debut album, “Trig”, was produced by Rachel Newton, and released in the summer of 2016

Folkwords: “One of those rare debut albums that taxes belief.. I think it highly unlikely that one could listen to ‘Trig’ and remain unmoved, either by the vibrancy of the tunes or the pull of the ballads”.

The Herald: “A quartet comprising fiddle, guitar, harp and accordion, they’ve developed their own group identity, playing smart, imaginative arrangements with verve”.
