Ballet Theatre UK presents Beauty and The Beast

Join Ballet Theatre UK with one of the most enchanting love stories of all time, ͞Beauty and the Beast͟. Inspired by the original tale, this production tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster. Little does she know that he is a Prince cursed by a magical Enchantress. The only way the Beast may become human again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. The curse set by the Enchantress is bound by a magical rose. If the final petal falls all hope will be lost and he will remain a Beast forever. Their feelings grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall - will they confess their love for one another before it is too late? Set to a stunning classical score this production will showcase new choreography by Artistic Director, Christopher Moore, as well as feature new sets and costumes created especially for this production.

Apollo Theatre Company in association with Spike Milligan Productions Ltd presents The Goon Show By Spike Milligan From the producers of the critically acclaimed 50th Anniversary Tour of Round the Horne comes another radio comedy classic live on stage. HAODS presents Follies

It’s 1971 and thirty years after their last performance at the famous Weismann Theatre the Follies beauties of years gone by reunite for a show stopping evening of Broadway glitz and glamour, before the Theatre, and former home, is torn down.In this shabby yet sparkling atmosphere of bittersweet nostalgia, the glamourous icons of the roaring 20’s, breath-taking tap dancers of the 30’s and haunting harmony singers of the 40’s laugh, cry, reminisce and boast as they perform the fabulous musical numbers which made them famous, trailed by the ghostly memories of their younger selves. Against this volatile atmosphere of drunken remembrances, a decades-old love quadrangle receives a revival when Follies dancers Sally and Phyllis, and their husbands, Buddy and Ben meet again. Follies is a loving and brilliant pastiche of show music, full of glorious dance routines and big band numbers it delivers fascinating peek into this by-gone era, and a clear-eyed look at the transformation of relationships over time. This award winning musical by Sondheim (and recent hit at the National Theatre) should not be missed!

Wisdom of a Fool

Star of 1950s British stage and screen, the legendary Norman Wisdom packed houses across the UK, won the hearts of millions and remains one of the UK’s comedy icons. The world of post-war Music Hall and Variety embraced his trademark manic slapstick routine and catapulted him to stardom. Over the years he perfected an act that would go on to shape his unique style; his cloth cap, ill-fitting suit and classic underdog character leading Charlie Chaplin to describe him as his ‘favourite clown’. Success on the silver screen including the hit song Don’t Laugh at Me sealed his fame. But, as ever, fame came at a price… Portraying thirty characters in this tour de force performance, Jack Lane takes you on an emotional roller coaster, revealing the man – and the extraordinary talent – behind the Gump costume. The Gump costume that features in the play belonged to Norman himself and has been generously loaned to the production by his son and daughter, Nicholas and Jacqueline Wisdom.
