Fleabag - NT Live (15)

Live via Satellite: 12th September*** SOLD OUT*** Encores (recorded): 8th, 14th, 15th October, 2nd November, 5th December See the hilarious, award-winning, one-woman show that inspired the BBC's hit TV series Fleabag, broadcast live to cinemas from London's West End. Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) and directed by Vicki Jones, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig cafe struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose. Playing to sold out audiences in New York and London, don't miss your chance to see this 'legitimately hilarious show' (New Yorker).

Ice Cube Double Bill: Boyz N The Hood + Friday (15)

To celebrate Black History Month and curated by The University Of Derby's Afro-Caribbean Society. We are dedicating a night to musician turned actor O'Shea Jackson aka Ice Cube with a double bill of two of his earliest roles. First-time director John Singleton garnered an Oscar nomination for this intensely dramatic story of life in a south central Los Angeles neighbourhood. Written by Singleton himself the film follows the lives of friends Tre (Cuba Gooding, Jr) and Ricky (Morris Chestnut) and their attempts to build a better life for themselves during the heightened gang culture of the 1990's. The film is inspired by Singleton’s own childhood in Los Angeles and the characters are loosely based on figures in his own life. Ice Cube plays Doughboy the older brother to Tre’s friend Ricky, who is frustrated with the life that he is living with limited options.

Judy (12A)

Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform in a sell-out run at The Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in The Wizard Of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. As she prepares for the show, battles with management, charms musicians and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. And yet Judy is fragile. After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; and gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Featuring some of her best-known songs, the film celebrates the voice, the capacity for love and the sheer pizzazz of the world's greatest entertainer. "With a jaw-dropping performance from Renée Zellweger at its pulsing, neurotic heart, the film is funny, warm and satisfyingly self-aware." - Sight & Sound

The Last Tree (15)

Written and directed by British filmmaker Shola Amoo, The Last Tree tells the moving, heartfelt semi-autobiographical story of a young man carving out an identity for himself in early 21st century London. Femi is a British boy of Nigerian heritage who, after being fostered in rural Lincolnshire, moves to a diverse, deprived area of inner-city London to live with his birth mother, leading to a profound shift in his sense of self. In his teens, Femi continues to struggle with the culture and values of his new environment and, finding out what it means to be a young black man in London in the early 00s, must decide which path to adulthood he will take. Featuring stunning performances from an outstanding cast including new comer Tai Golding, Sam Adewunmi, Denise Black and NIcholas Pinnock, The Last Tree offers a timely and profoundly compelling study of Britishness and young black masculinity. "The film bristles with film-making confidence…" ★★★★ - Mark Kermode, The Observer

Non Fiction (15) S

Alain (Guillaume Canet), a successful Parisian publisher struggling to adapt to the digital revolution, rejects the latest piece of veiled autobiography from author Leonard (Vincent Macaigne). But that's ok: Leonard has his affair with Alain's wife, actress Selena (Juliette Binoche) to comfort him! After all, his wife Valerie (Nora Hamzawi) has little time for his self indulgence. But events force them into confronting their double lives in a comedy of art, affairs and midlife crises. From director Olivier Assayas (Personal Shopper, Clouds Of Sils Maria), this film paints a hilarious and sprightly portrait of high class people with low class values.

Satori Screen: Oldboy (18) S

In 1988 drunkard Oh-Daesu (a memorably fierce performance by Min-sik Choi) is kidnapped off the street and held captive with no clue as to the reason why. Released just as mysteriously fifteen years later, he sets out on a relentless and violent quest to find his tormentors and discover just why he suffered this fate. Park Chan-wook’s intricately plotted thriller has been remastered in stunning 4K resolution giving a new generation of film fans the chance to see one of the greatest cult films of the 21st century on the big screen. "A classic of the macabre that revived the spirit of Jacobean theatre for 21st-century cinema" ★★★★★ - The Guardian

A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (U)

Shaun (Justin Fletcher) and his gang have been enjoying a quiet life, but when an intergalactic being crash lands on Mossy Bottom Farm, that’s all about to change. Wandering sheepishly into the shed, Shaun meets a mysterious figure, a mischievous alien called Lu-La. Discovering she has magical extra-terrestrial powers, Shaun is amazed and welcomes her into the flock. Curious of her new surroundings, Lu-La enjoys her time with Shaun and the sheep and she shows off her naughty side – hiding from the farmer (John Sparkes) and helping Shaun wind up his friend, Bitzer. But Lu-La is missing her faraway home and she’s very much lost. With the help of his friends, Shaun agrees to help Lu-La find her way back to her home planet. But with a dangerous organisation on the hunt for the unique alien, the flock don’t have any time to waste. They must figure out a way to help their new friend before Farmageddon strikes. Due to contractual obligations with the film's distributor we are unable to offer the Cine Kids ticket price so close to the film's release date.

Suzi Q (15)

The trailblazer and inspiration for a generation of female rock musicians who followed her, Suzi Q reminds contemporary audiences of Suzi Quatro’s pioneering influence, white hot talent and a string of pop rock hits. Exiled to Europe during her success yet now largely forgotten in her homeland, the film returns Suzi to Detroit. It explores the long simmering family tensions, sibling rivalries and reveals the price paid for success in this deeply personal exploration of fame, ambition and resilience. Accept no substitutes.
