Charlie's Angels

- 2019
- US
- 1h 59min
- 12A
- Directed by: Elizabeth Banks
- Cast: Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Elizabeth Banks, Djimon Hounsou, Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Patrick Stewart
Sabina (Stewart), Elena (Scott) and Jane (Balinska) are the titular trio, sparking off each other while they take down various wealthy and corrupt businessmen. Stewart is a comedic revelation, Balinska is a natural and Scott gives a confident physical performance, but while it’s fun for the most part, it lacks bite.

- Directed by: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
- Cast: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff
Elsa (Menzel) and Anna (Bell) head off on a dangerous journey after Elsa hears voices calling her to a distant land. The plot is less involving than the character interaction, but Olaf (Gad) is the comedic highlight and while it may be less compelling than the original, it's got all the ingredients for a hit.

- Directed by: Rian Johnson
- Cast: Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, Christopher Plummer
When mystery writer Harlan Thrombey (Plummer) is found with his throat slit, puffed-up private detective Benoit Blanc (Craig) gets on the case. A wickedly knowing, flamboyantly bitchy take on the whodunnit, with a great cast, bags of style and a splendidly outrageous comic turn from Craig. Bloody good fun.

Last Christmas

- 2019
- UK / US
- 1h 43min
- 12A
- Directed by: Paul Feig
- Cast: Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emma Thompson, Michelle Yeoh
Kate (Clarke) is a Yugoslavian immigrant whose life is going downhill until she meets the mysterious bike-riding Tom (Golding), who seems too good to be true. Thompson and Kimmings’ script is a saccharine romantic fantasy and George Michael’s music isn’t always incorporated effectively, but its heart is in the right place.
