  • Cast: Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Emma Thompson, Luke Evans, Ewan McGregor, Josh Gad

Belle (Watson) is forced to live with a Beast (Stevens) in this live-action retelling of the 1991 blockbuster. Watson is winsome but feisty, Evans as Gaston is splendid of voice and hilariously odious, McGregor brings much joie de vivre to ‘Be Our Guest’, and it’s an enchantingly realised delight.

  • Directed by: Tom McGrath
  • Written by: Marla Frazee/Michael McCullers
  • Cast: Miles Christopher Bakshi, Alec Baldwin, Tobey Maguire, Steve Buscemi

The Boss Baby (Baldwin) is a tot with the mannerisms of a ruthless corporate tycoon, who upsets seven-year-old Tim (Bakshi). The frantic visual style and crude slapstick overwrite the charm of the original story by Marla Frazee, and there’s not much for audiences to take to their hearts.

  • Directed by: Jordan Vogt-Roberts

In 1973 a team of scientists goes to explore a recently discovered island with its own ecosystem, which turns out to include a 100-foot-tall ape which can punch helicopters out of the sky. Kong himself is impressive, if his fellow beasts are less so, and a great cast and able direction make this a monstrously entertaining actioner.

Sleeping Beauty

Vienna Festival Ballet returns to Swanage with their traditional, enchanting production of The Sleeping Beauty, a classic fairy tale set to Tchaikovsky's magnificent score, stunning choreography, beautiful costumes, all combine to portray the struggle between good and evil.

Incensed at being snubbed at the christening of Princess Aurora, the wicked fairy Carabosse lays a curse on the child, proclaiming that she will one day pierce her finger - and die. But the Lilac Fairy intervenes, and when the fateful day arrives, the princess and the entire palace instead fall into a deep sleep. A century later, Prince Florimund is guided to the castle by the Lilac Fairy, overcoming the obstacles created by Carabosse, and awakening the sleeping princess with a kiss. It is love at first sight, the palace awakes and a parade of fairytale characters attends the royal wedding. A gorgeous Tchaikovsky score, classic Petipa choreography, an enchanting fairytale.

Following the traditional tale of Sleeping Beauty, this ballet is sure to enchant audiences of all ages.

Founded in 1980 by the vastly experienced Austrian dancer and artistic director, Peter Mallek, Vienna Festival Ballet uses talented international dancers, giving a vitality, energy and freshness to every performance.

'An excellent company of talented young dancers. Their energy and enthusiasm is breathtaking'. Ents24.com
