The Brandon McPhee Experience

The Brandon McPhee Experience

The Brandon McPhee Experience

We’ve all had different experiences throughout our lifetime, but The Brandon McPhee Experience is one we can guarantee you will not forget. Award winning Brandon McPhee and his 5-piece band covering traditional Scottish, Folk, Country, Irish and much more in this show.

Manson Grant of “Manson Grant and the Dynamos” fame, plays keyboard in the band and sings some songs throughout the evening. Manson represented Scotland in Nashville part of the Country Music Hall of Fame “Fan Fair” and was backed on that occasion by the Jordanaires who performed with Elvis Presley.

‘Walking on Waves’ - Irish megastars Foster and Allen joined Brandon with this single - view on Facebook Released 3 months ago - the first week in December was a No1. in the Joyce Ramgatie International Country Music Chart. This chart is based on airplay http://www.countrymusicchart.net/

Tony Allen from Foster and Allen will be joining Brandon as special guest. Tony and Brandon toured BBC radio stations earlier this year doing interviews promoting the single ‘Walking On The Waves’.

Brandon McPhee recently began to tour his stage show in response to demand following 5 sell-out shows in 4 years at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, 1045 in Perth Concert Hall, and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall a sell-out of 500 in the New Auditorium - to name a few.

At 17 Brandon won the All Scotland Senior Accordion Championship on his 3 row Shand Morino accordion. The youngest ever to win this victory. He is a 3 times gold medallist in the Royal National Mod. He is a firm favourite with guest appearances for HRH Prince Charles and members of the Royal Family. Brandon is also known for presenting the Television programme on Spotlight TV “Caithness Music’s Brandon McPhee Hour” Thursday at 4pm on SKY376, Freesat 516 and streamed live on the web. Went with daughter Sandy last night and had the privilege of meeting Brandon afterwards, for a chat and came away with a signed copy of his latest CD, which was specially produced for the show. Brandon is a quite simply, awesome accordionist!! how the famous Shand Marino box was designed by Jimmy Shand and produced in a joint venture with head engineer Venanzio Morino of Hohner in 1939! How proud must Brandon feel as that is the very accordion he now plays in the show!! I would suggest that any lovers of the accordion and Scottish Music out there, should try to get along to the show! You will NOT regret it!' Alexander Straker

Broadway and Beyond

“Broadway and Beyond” is a thrilling and entertaining mix of music and wit from the most popular musicals of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Audiences will be captivated by the talents and versatility of our eight performers; comprising three all-singing all-dancing actors, whose vitality and vocal dexterity will amaze, sharing the stage with five musicians, demonstrating musical agility and expertise on more than a dozen instruments. Add to this a dazzling array of costumes and exhilarating dance routines and the evening promises to both charm and delight.

The show features songs and music from productions that have all appeared, at some time or other, on or just off Broadway - New York’s legendary theatre district. Featuring songs from classic productions such Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate, and The Music Man through to more modern musicals such as 42nd Street, The Producers and Spamalot , “Broadway and Beyond” is an uplifting celebration of the very best of musical theatre, presented in an engaging and entertaining package by one the country’s newest and brightest production companies.

Gloucestershire Echo World Of Broadway Deserves Spotlight - Monday 9th April, 2012 By Simon Lewis

'Top hats and canes, swirling dresses, a sprinkling of glitz and quality music throughout, Clearer Productions' breezy all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza celebrating a century of Broadway (and beyond) was a total success. Slickly choreographed, radiating pure joy and bringing each character believably to life, the three versatile troubadours, Ian Curran, Kevin Brewis and Nicky Reader cruised majestically through a whistlestop tour of songs culled principally from lesser known off-Broadway productions, glued together with a few evergreens from Oklahoma!, South Pacific and 42nd Street.

Mel Brooks, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim and the Gershwins were honoured in style, and for anyone hooked on Les Mis or The Phantom of the Opera, neither of which got even the slightest look-in tonight, it was a welcome showcase for a few long-forgotten creations (Pal Joey, Betsy, Little Johnny Jones) that still deserve their place in the spotlight. There is often strength in numbers on stage, but, for once, this was a case of so much from so few, ably supported by the multi-instrumental, five-man band under Neil Cleary. Disciplined, balanced and never invasive, they provided a pulsating accompaniment to many neat and well-crafted set pieces during which the momentum never let up.

Whilst Ian and Kevin prompted the bulk of the chuckles, especially during an excerpt from Spamalot and the running gag of Brush Up Your Shakespeare from Kiss Me Kate, the evening's most haunting moments were left to Nicky, who worked her way through more eye-catching costumes than an entire West End cast, and whose controlled voice especially during several reflective solos, was an unmitigated delight.

There is indeed nothing like a Broadway show, and there can be few more absorbing ways to enjoy them than tonight's polished performance during which my feet barely stopped tapping.'

Bournemouth Echo Broadway and Beyond, Regent Centre, Christchurch - Sunday 20th February, 2011 By Ray O'Luby

'BRAVO for a brilliant tribute to Broadway. The talent and exuberance of this company of three singers-cumdancers and a multi instrumental five piece band, could hardly be bettered in this cracking paced parade of a 100 years of great Stage Musicals. Nicky Reader's versatile voice ranged from delightful to fiesty, Ian Knauer and Stephen Emery matched in quality, and the acting in the comic numbers was an added joy.

The earliest showstopper went back to 1911 with Irving Berlin's Alexander's Ragtime Band, from the intriguingly titled Friar's Frolic. Among the work of Berlin's contemporaries was Cole Porter's sublime Night And Day, from Gay Divorce, and his wittily worded Brush Up Your Shakespeare, from Kiss Me Kate, while the Gershwins were represented by I've Got Rhythm, from Girl Crazy.

Knauer and Emery made for a likeable pair of lovelorn sailors in There Is Nothing Like A Dame, from Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific, before being swept away by Reader's hilarious knock-em-dead delivery of When You've Got It Flaunt It, from that hysterical masterpiece by Mel Brooks, The Producers, which also provided the fitting finale, There's Nothing Like A Show On Broadway. Excellent.'

Dave Berry and The Cruisers

Born David Holgate Grundy in Beighton near Sheffield in 1941, Berry started out singing in Yorkshire clubs as half of an Everly Brothers-type duo. In 1961 he assumed his stage surname when invited to front The Cruisers, who had risen from the ashes of another local combo, The Chuck Fowler R ‘n’ B Band. His best-remembered hits are "Memphis, Tennessee", "The Crying Game" (1964) and his 1965 hit "Little Things", "This Strange Effect" (1965), written by Ray Davies, became a Number One hit for him in the Netherlands and Belgium. B. J. Thomas's sentimental "Mama" (1966) and "Don't Gimme No Lip Child", the latter is the flip to Berry's #5 hit single, "The Crying Game", in 1964, were other notable recordings.

Having played to a million fans over the past three decades, the show is described as a “definitive music mecca for fans of the golden era of pop music”.

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate

Hot Chocolate started their recording career making a reggae version of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance". He was contacted by Apple Records, discovered that John Lennon liked his version, and the group was subsequently signed to Apple Records. The link was short-lived as The Beatles were starting to break up, and the Apple connection soon ended.

In 1970 Hot Chocolate, with the help of record producer Mickie Most, began releasing tracks that became hits, such as "Love is Life", "Emma", "You Could Have Been a Lady", and "I Believe in Love".

It was in the disco era of the mid-1970s that Hot Chocolate became a big success. A combination of high production standards, the growing confidence of the main songwriting team of Wilson and Brown, and tight harmonies enabled them to secure further big hits like "You Sexy Thing" and "Every 1's a Winner".

In 1977, after scoring 15 hits, they finally reached Number One with "So You Win Again”. Other hits followed including “No Doubt About It”, “Girl Crazy”, “Brother Louie” & “Put Your Love In Me”.

The band became the only group, and one of just three acts, that scored a hit in every year of the 1970s in the UK charts (the other two being Elvis Presley and Diana Ross). The band eventually had at least one hit, every year, between 1970 and 1984.

They continued well into the 1980s, and clocked up another big hit record: "It Started With a Kiss", in 1982, which reached Number 5 in the UK. In all, the group charted 25 UK Top 40 hit singles. Their single "You Sexy Thing" became the only track that made British Top Ten status in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Its renewed appreciation can be credited in part to its appearances in a string of successful films starting with the 1997 comedy The Full Monty.

Marks and Gran ‘Blokes Of A Feather’

Forty years ago, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran gave up their day jobs to become full-time comedy writers: their 40-year mission, to make millions laugh. The following decades took them from Borehamwood to Pinewood via Hollywood. They created a hatful of hit TV shows, including Shine On Harvey Moon, The New Statesman, Love Hurts, Goodnight Sweetheart, and of course Birds of a Feather. Along the way they won two BAFTAs and an Emmy, and founded ALOMO Productions, one of the most successful TV production companies of the 1990s.

In the 21st century, Lo and Mo also found time to write for radio, theatre and the musical stage; Dreamboats and Petticoats, their first musical, was nominated for an Olivier Award. Currently they are working on several new musicals, and a memoir. Despite all this, they’ve decided to go on the road to share their memories of a remarkable career, and of the famous and infamous personalities they’ve fought with along the way, including Frankie Howerd, Adam Faith, Zoe Wanamaker, Kate Winslet, Ray Winstone, Rik Mayall, Nick Lyndhurst, Warren Mitchell, Henry Winkler, Michael Winner, Michael Caine, Roger Moore, Cilla Black, and of course the birds of a feather, Linda, Pauline and Lesley.

Blokes of a Feather will provide a highly entertaining evening in the theatre…though we’re willing to do afternoons if the audience wants an early night. There will be anecdotes, revelations, indiscretions, insights and lots of laughter, and plenty of classic video clips from their enormous back catalogue (Oooh, missus, as Frankie Howerd would have said).

Mary Duff Concert

As time goes by Mary Duff’s career seems to go from strength to strength, and as the salutation and success continue to roll in for the genuinely charismatic and warm Irish singer, there seems little sign of the celebrated triumphs slowing down. Quite the opposite in fact, as she is about to enter, what is hoped to be, one of the most exciting phases of her career so far continuing a hugely successful number of years which has heralded previously unthought-of achievement for the lovely Irish artist.

Not only has Mary made a live television appearance in front of a massive 60 million American viewers, resulting in a number 2 on the Billboard World Music Charts, but success has also grown in the UK. Her album, ‘The Ultimate Collection’, a ‘best of’ album featuring 40 of Mary’s’ best loved songs, was not only her first TV-advertised release, but was also her first ever British chart hit, nestling nicely into the UK Top 50. Not bad for a small country girl from Ireland, who’s wonderfully emotive, yet quietly powerful voice, was all discovered by accident when she was only twelve years old!

This year will see Mary bring her show to many parts of the World, including Australia, New Zealand, Sri-Lanka, Switzerland, USA, Canada and all parts of the British Isles. Mary has also just completed a very successful Duet tour with Dominic Kirwan in the United Kingdom.

The Musical History Experience

The Musical History Experience show is a brand new and exciting multimedia theatre production that incorporates the latest in technology crossed with authentic instruments to recreate the sights and sounds of the 1960s. Over two hours of musical history from this ground breaking period in time.

Never seen before show that includes HD cameras streaming realtime footage of the show from the musicians to the audience on two large projection screens, along with authentic footage and news reports and information from the price of a loaf of bread in 1960 to the cost of house in 1969, who was the Prime Minister to who was in the news in this wonderful and timeless era.

Full scale stage props includes a Police Box Time Machine that opens the show with the musicians appearing from, scenery walls acting as amplifier screens and full light show and crafted digital sound using state of the art desks.

In this Edition the ‘Rock ’N’ Roll Edition’ it features two iconic sixties groups, The Swinging Blue Jeans & The Tornados, so it really is Liverpool Mersey beat versus the sounds of sixties swinging London.

The Swinging Blue Jeans Formed in Liverpool in 1961 as The Bluegenes, the band soon changed their name to The Swinging Blue Jeans. They followed virtually the same path to success as many of their Merseybeat contemporaries during the early 1960s. After playing a succession of local dance halls and club engagements, they travelled to Germany and appeared at the legendary Star Club, Hamburg. The band became resident at The Cavern Club and had their own ‘Tuesday Guest Night’. One of the first bands they invited as their guests were The Beatles.

The Swinging Blue Jeans were originally founded by Ray Ennis and Les Braid. In 1962, they were signed to a recording contract by HMV Records and their debut single It's Too Late Now in 1963 just crept into the British charts at Number 30. Their next single Hippy Hippy Shake crashed into the Hit Parade and just fell short of the Number 1 slot. Their follow-up release, Good Golly Miss Molly followed suit and their next single You're No Good reached Number 3 in Britain. They famously engaged in a punch up with the Rolling Stones at the BBC studios during recording of the first show of Top of the Pops as a result of an argument over a ball point pen for signing autographs.

One of Britain’s good-time bands, The Swinging Blue Jeans had their last big hit in 1966 with ‘Don’t Make me Over’. Despite several line-up changes The Swinging Blue Jeans are still going strong today! The band still featured original member Ray Ennis until his retirement from the group in May 2010.

The Tornados The Tornados® featuring 1960s Tornados organist Dave Watts were signed to the infamous independent record producer Joe Meek at his home recording studio at 304 Holloway Road Islington. Dave joined the Tornados in 1964 recording and touring for Joe Meek, during 1965 Meek sacked all the personnel with the exception of Dave Watts, thus creating a brand new line-up and briefly calling themselves the New Tornados.

Winter of 1966 Dave Watts and Joe Meek, under pressure from the infamous Kray twins decided to book a series of concerts abroad, February the 3rd Joe Meek shot dead his landlady Violet Shenton and then himself. Today Dave Watts employs some of the best UK musicians to carry the legend forward and creating a beat stomping show that does not disappoint.

Naturally 7

7 guys. Multiple ways of making music using only their voices. What they do is far more than a-cappella. They are a band without a band.

Having met in school and gospel choir they quickly discovered that they were doing more than just singing songs, they all discovered perfect hyper vocal capabilities. That's why Naturally 7 calls their music "vocal play". Every band member has his preferred style or favourite songs and together they can interpret them all.

Naturally 7 summon up soul, rap, rock and folk in one harmonious balance.

Nowadays they have famous fans such as Michael Bubl (whom they joined on 3 world tours), Coldplay ("Fix you" is one of the finest adaptions of music you can imagine), Quincy Jones (who called them "best a-cappella band worldwide"), Herbie Hancock (listen to their H. Hancock medley) and many others.

Their repertoire is a mix of their own compositions and cover versions.
