The Alex Voysey Blues Band

The Alex Voysey Blues Band

Originally from Macclesfield but now based in Gloucestershire, Alex graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2017, studying performance art and popular music. Since then he has worked across many genres and with a wide range of artists, including the MD of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club James Pearson, vocalists Mick Wilson (10cc), Lance Ellington (Strictly Come Dancing), Matt Ford (John Wilson Orchestra) and Capital Voices. He also works regularly with the CBSO and Hallé orchestras across a variety of styles including West End/Abba/Nashville/Bond themed shows and was thrilled to perform the iconic Bond theme in recent film with live orchestra screenings of both Casino Royale and Skyfall in Manchester and Harrogate.

Alex is also a frequent performer in smaller local venues. He is a passionate advocate for blues music and loves to bring his twist on both traditional and modern to new and community-based audiences. He regularly accompanies pianist and arranger Robin Smith in venues across Gloucestershire, giving performers of all ages an opportunity to showcase their talents, most frequently at Chapel Arts in Cheltenham and The Guildhouse at Stanton.

Alex is a passionate music educator and whilst still in Leeds he supported visually imparted young musicians at Junior College and taught in schools across the city for ArtForms. After moving south, he was invited to tutor on Peter Gill's Rock Schools, the Everyman Youth Theatre summer school in Cheltenham and enjoys teaching private pupils alongside creating bespoke music packages for primary schools in his community who are without specialist provision.

Glenn Wool

A cleverly subversive comedian, because behind his shaggy hangdog looks and his apparently homespun humour lies a sharp intelligence which is slowly and quietly hitting the mark on several of the important issues of the day. Wool tackles a wide range of subjects from religious fundamentalism to current world politics and does it in such a way that you hardly notice that that is what you are listening to. Not hardcore political comedy, but maybe all the more effective for being presented in a language the average layman can understand…" Bernard Fletcher

Merry Hell / Ranagri

Founded in their native North West of England, Merry Hell is an eight-piece folk-rock band with a history, a pedigree and a bright future. In four short years they have risen to become festival favourites, their first two albums finding favour with critics, broadcasters and music fans alike. The band was forged in the smouldering embers of 90s Folk/punk band, The Tansads. Following an emotional series of reunion concerts in 2010, its members chose to tread the boards under a new name, 'Merry Hell', in order to reflect their new impetus, new hopes and, most importantly, new songs.

Alt folk band Ranagri are a combination of Irish and English musicians; with Vocals/ Guitar, Flutes/ Whistles, Electric Harp and Bodhran/ Guitar and they have recorded three studio albums at Grammy Award Winning Record Label Stockfisch Records, with their latest record Playing For Luck released in January 2019. Straighten Out ? Stranglers Tribute Band

Straighten Out ? Stranglers Tribute Band

STRAIGHTEN OUT are the premier Stranglers tribute band out there…with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the 'early years' sound of The Stranglers, complete with a keyboard rig that is the same model as the original used by Mr. Greenfield himself in the 1970's…!

The growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal 'attack' from the two frontmen a la Burnel-Cornwell as they rip through all the classics: 'Peaches', 'Hanging Around', 'No More Heroes', '5 Minutes', 'The Raven', 'Walk On By', 'Straighten Out', 'Down In The Sewer' and many more as they cover virtually the whole of the first three Stranglers' albums and beyond…Straighten Out - live and unleashed - will take you on a nostalgia trip that transports you back to those raw, powerful, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest tunes ever written…Straighten Out will put you back in that place…!

Bassist Shaggy and keyboard player Mick ('The Doc') were together in previous Stranglers tribute band 'Four More Heroes' and it was only natural that these two continued on after their demise to form 'Straighten Out' given their love of Stranglers music and the desire to keep playing live …they set the platform with the growling bass and swirling keyboard sound so essential to reproducing the authentic Stranglers sound …joining them are drums and Phil steps up to give you the 'Hugh' element to complete the fearsome foursome…Straighten Out are a 'must see' tribute band who'll leave an indelible impression in your head
