Every summer Stafford Gatehouse Theatre produces a musical by young performers between the ages of 7 and 21.

This year we are producing The Addams Family - A New Musical. THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

David Starkey: Six Wives: The Queens of Henry VIII

David Starkey - A Monarchy of Misfits

No one in history had a more eventful career in matrimony than Henry VIII. His marriages were daring and tumultuous, and made instant legends of six very different women. In this fascinating talk, David Starkey argues that the king was not a depraved philanderer but someone seeking happiness – and a son. Knowingly or not, he elevated a group of women to extraordinary heights and changed the way a nation was governed.

Six Wives intimately examines the rituals of diplomacy, marriage, pregnancy, and religion that were part of daily life for women at the Tudor Court. Weaving new facts and fresh interpretations into a spellbinding account of the emotional drama surrounding Henry's six marriages, David Starkey reveals the central role that the queens played in determining policy. With an equally keen eye for romantic and political intrigue, he brilliantly recaptures the story of Henry's wives and the England they ruled.

The ELO Tribute Show

The ELO Tribute Show

The ELO Show - A tribute to the music and Genius of Jeff Lynne and ELO   A brand new show celebrating the music of Jeff Lynne and E.L.O. With a band of amazing musicians including a female string section this will be a fabulous night of hit after hit from such a vast back catalogue.   Jeff Lynne and ELO famously carried on the legacy of the Beatles where in his own words he wanted to "Carry on from where I am the Walrus left off' and combined Classical music with motifs of the greats with Rock and Roll like no other musician before. The album 'Out of the Blue' released in 1977 catapulted them into Rock history and truly made them one of the biggest bands in the World at the time. After many years of touring Jeff parted ways with the band to focus on producing some of the greatest musicians of the time namely, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney and The Beatles.   Jeff resurrected the ELO legacy in 2014 with a new lineup and a stunning stageshow and has been touring the World Arenas and stadiums to this day.   The ELO show gives (almost) as good a show as Jeff but on a smaller scale, but still with a stunning lightshow and 3D video screens very similar to Jeff's current backdrop.   Expect songs like, 'Evil Woman', Don't bring me down', 'Telephone Line', 'Sweet Talkin Woman', 'Turn to stone', 'Wild west Hero', 'The Diary of Horace Wimp' and of course the legendary 'Mr.Blue Sky' plus many more with a surprise or two.   Don't miss out on this fantastic night of nostalgia and classic tunes.

“Ticked all the right boxes – the audience loved it.” (Edinburgh Evening News) “The show is slick, fun, cheeky, smart and topical.” (Manchester Evening News) “’Hormonal Housewives’ hits the proverbial spot for the hordes of females who are hell bent on having a laugh at both their own expense and that of the male species.” (The Stage) “Candid…camp…provocative…I laughed my head off.” (audience member) “Upfront, extremely personal, hilarious – I loved it!” (audience member)

I Believe in Unicorns

This intimate show is set in a library full of books that hold more than stories within their pages. It is a tale of the power of books, and the bravery of a young boy called Tomas. Tomas hates reading and school, but his world is turned upside down the day he meets the Unicorn Lady … An enchanting and interactive production, I Believe in Unicorns sparks imagination in both young and old. We challenge you not to believe in unicorns after joining Tomas’ spellbinding journey. “An utterly magical stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s enthralling children’s tale” The Stage

'I Believe in Unicorns' also includes a 'book swap’, for which audience members are invited to bring along a favourite children's book (for ages 6 and upwards) to help form part of the stage set at the beginning of the show. At the end the children are invited to swap their book for another one and so have a new story 'from the library' to take home with them. (This is not obligatory and we do have a few extra books for those who cannot bring one with them).

Family Show; not suitable for under 6‘s but for everyone else who loves stories.

Joe Brown 60th Anniversary Concert Tour

Premier rock ‘n’ roll legend Joe Brown has gone from strength to strength as his contemporary achievements continued to gather momentum.

His ‘Very Best Of’ album achieved Gold Record Status and was on the UK charts for eight weeks staying four weeks in the Top 20 and in the same year his 50th anniversary was celebrated with a wonderful sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall and his new Ukulele Album caused a similar stir although branching out internationally and broke new territory for Joe in the download market where he is now a Spotify Legend.

He has continued to break box office records and recently received MOJO magazine’s coveted Outstanding Contribution To  Music Award as well as a much deserved MBE.

Joe won over a whole new generation of fans performing on Later With Jools Holland and playing his part closing the show at the Concert For George Harrison. You may have witnessed his critically acclaimed set at Glastonbury Festival or caught him on tour. If you have you’ll already know just what a terrific live talent he is.

In 2017 Joe broke with tradition and toured without a band just taking US Legend Henry Gross along and the two tours & ‘Just Joe’ Double CD release they undertook together in 2017 ">*We wish to make it clear that we had previously incorrectly advertised this as Joe Browns Farewell Tour this was incorrect, it is his 60th Anniversay Tour. The Joni Mitchell Songbook

The Joni Mitchell Songbook

The music of Joni Mitchell is celebrated in this performance of some of her best-loved songs. As Joni reaches her landmark 75th year, these concerts are also by way of an extended celebration of her life and work. The Joni Mitchell Songbook draws on a three-decade journey of incredible creativity, from folk singer to mainstream rock artist, as well as an abiding love affair with jazz. Featuring Big Yellow Taxi (her most covered song),* River* and A Case of You (both from the breakthrough album Blue), the radio hits of Help Me and Free Man In Paris (from double-platinum Court and Spark) and the jazz-infused stylings of In France They Kiss On Main St (The Hissing of Summer Lawns) and Coyote (Hejira).

Both Sides Now is a five-piece band showcasing the outstanding voice of Sarah Miller. During its debut year of 2018, the band played at some of the UK's leading music venues. The musicians' CVs include such notable names as Don Felder of the Eagles, Badly Drawn Boy, Ruby Turner and Corinne Bailey Rae.

This is not your usual tribute – it's a group of Joni superfans dedicated to keeping her music in the live arena.

Justin Moorhouse: People and Feelings

These days Justins not certain about anything apart from his uncertainty Brexit looms, it appears the Cold War is being rebooted and thats before we begin to worry about whats happening in America..closer to home hes starting to feel redundant as a parent. One kid is leaving home, the dog is getting older and doesnt need much walking, and the youngest kid hits thirteen and cancels the family subscription to The Beano. On top of this the golden age of the Northern straight white male comedian has gone the way of the dinosaurs. How will he adapt if he wants to survive? What next for this Northern Joker? What can he talk to his daughter about now she cares little for Dennis the Menace and the Bash St Kids? Hang on. Perhaps nothing has changed that much. When he was thirteen, the Russians were scary, the White House was a madhouse and hed never been to Europe anyhow. Thinking back this was when his reading habits changed too, more Dark Knight than Desperate Dan, more Catwoman than Minnie the Minx. Perhaps our heroes never went away.they just waited for us to pick them up again. 'The course of true love never did run smooth.’

A feuding fairy King and Queen of the forest cross paths with four runaway lovers and a troupe of actors trying to rehearse a play. As their dispute grows, the magical royal couple meddle with mortal lives leading to love triangles, mistaken identities and transformations… with hilarious, but dark consequences.

Shakespeare’s most famous romantic comedy will be captured live from the Bridge Theatre in London. Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Oliver Chris (Green Wing, NT Live: Young Marx), David Moorst (NT Live: Allelujah!) and Hammed Animashaun (The Barber Shop Chronicles) lead the cast as Titania, Oberon, Puck and Bottom.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will build on the success of his immersive staging of Julius Caesar (NT Live 2018). The Bridge Theatre will become a forest – a dream world of flying fairies, contagious fogs and moonlight revels, surrounded by a roving audience following the action on foot.

ORANGES & INK by Claire Louise Amias

Aphra Behn and Nell Gwyn were friends. One of them the first professional female writer and the other an actress turned royal courtesan, they helped each other find success, despite humble beginnings.

Oranges and Ink takes place at a time when fake news about a ‘Popish Plot’ to kill the King is being used to stir up anti-Catholic feelings. Set in the vibrant and frequently debauched world of Restoration theatre, the play follows the trials and tribulations of two female libertines in an age of intolerance and social upheaval.

Tinder (The Comedy)

Meet Shaz, Maz and Kaz – or Sharon, Marion and Karen Anne. Best pals since they met on the first day of school, and thirty years later they're still thick as thieves, having the time of their fecking lives every time they get together. Well, sort of.

Kaz is finally getting married to Tony, which means Shaz and Maz need dates for the wedding – proper dates, not hook-ups. Shaz is a total Tinderella, but Maz hasn’t had a man since her ex left her ten years ago for the local anorexic trolly dolly with the bubble perm. But that’s about to change…

Shaz and Kaz are determined to give Maz a killer make-over and get her online. But between the karaoke and Tropical Reef of Kaz’s hen party – and the usual sex stories, family dramas, and revelations from their school days – Shaz and Maz spot Kaz’s husband-to-be on Tinder…

Crammed with songs like ‘Someone Like You’, ‘Shout Out to My Ex’, ‘All the Single Ladies’ and ‘Angels’ – all sung live by the cast – Tinder promises to be the Girls Night Out of the year!
