The ELO Tribute Show

The ELO Tribute Show

The ELO Show - A tribute to the music and Genius of Jeff Lynne and ELO   A brand new show celebrating the music of Jeff Lynne and E.L.O. With a band of amazing musicians including a female string section this will be a fabulous night of hit after hit from such a vast back catalogue.   Jeff Lynne and ELO famously carried on the legacy of the Beatles where in his own words he wanted to "Carry on from where I am the Walrus left off' and combined Classical music with motifs of the greats with Rock and Roll like no other musician before. The album 'Out of the Blue' released in 1977 catapulted them into Rock history and truly made them one of the biggest bands in the World at the time. After many years of touring Jeff parted ways with the band to focus on producing some of the greatest musicians of the time namely, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney and The Beatles.   Jeff resurrected the ELO legacy in 2014 with a new lineup and a stunning stageshow and has been touring the World Arenas and stadiums to this day.   The ELO show gives (almost) as good a show as Jeff but on a smaller scale, but still with a stunning lightshow and 3D video screens very similar to Jeff's current backdrop.   Expect songs like, 'Evil Woman', Don't bring me down', 'Telephone Line', 'Sweet Talkin Woman', 'Turn to stone', 'Wild west Hero', 'The Diary of Horace Wimp' and of course the legendary 'Mr.Blue Sky' plus many more with a surprise or two.   Don't miss out on this fantastic night of nostalgia and classic tunes.

Hansard by Simon Wood

Hansard; noun The official report of all parliamentary debates. See two-time Olivier Award winners, Lindsay Duncan (Birdman, About Time) and Alex Jennings (The Lady in the Van, The Queen), in this brand-new play by Simon Wood, broadcast live from the National Theatre in London. It’s a summer’s morning in 1988 and Tory politician Robin Hesketh has returned home to the idyllic Cotswold house he shares with his wife of 30 years, Diana. But all is not as blissful as it seems. Diana has a stinking hangover, a fox is destroying the garden, and secrets are being dug up all over the place. As the day draws on, what starts as gentle ribbing and the familiar rhythms of marital scrapping quickly turns to blood-sport. Don’t miss this witty and devastating portrait of the governing class, directed by Simon Godwin (NT Live: Antony & Cleopatra, Twelfth Night) and part of National Theatre Live’s 10th birthday season.

One kid is leaving home, the dog is getting older and doesnt need much walking, and the youngest kid hits thirteen and cancels the family subscription to The Beano. On top of this the golden age of the Northern straight white male comedian has gone the way of the dinosaurs. How will he adapt if he wants to survive? What next for this Northern Joker? What can he talk to his daughter about now she cares little for Dennis the Menace and the Bash St Kids? Hang on. Perhaps nothing has changed that much. When he was thirteen, the Russians were scary, the White House was a madhouse and hed never been to Europe anyhow. Thinking back this was when his reading habits changed too, more Dark Knight than Desperate Dan, more Catwoman than Minnie the Minx. A Midsummer Night's Dream NT Film

*Please note this is an encore screening *- filmed live, but screened after the event

'The course of true love never did run smooth.’

A feuding fairy King and Queen of the forest cross paths with four runaway lovers and a troupe of actors trying to rehearse a play. As their dispute grows, the magical royal couple meddle with mortal lives leading to love triangles, mistaken identities and transformations… with hilarious, but dark consequences.

Shakespeare’s most famous romantic comedy will be captured live from the Bridge Theatre in London. Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Oliver Chris (Green Wing, NT Live: Young Marx), David Moorst (NT Live: Allelujah!) and Hammed Animashaun (The Barber Shop Chronicles) lead the cast as Titania, Oberon, Puck and Bottom.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will build on the success of his immersive staging of Julius Caesar (NT Live 2018). The Bridge Theatre will become a forest – a dream world of flying fairies, contagious fogs and moonlight revels, surrounded by a roving audience following the action on foot.
