1812 & Proms Fireworks

A truly iconic tradition that is celebrated every Wednesday evening, consisting of a culmination of concert music ending triumphantly with traditional proms favorites and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture accompanied by a spectacular Firework display.

Moulin Rouge!

Sing-a-long-a Moulin Rouge
  • 2001
  • US / Aus
  • 1h 48min
  • 12
  • Directed by: Baz Luhrmann
  • Written by: Baz Luhrmann, Craig Pearce
  • Cast: Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, Jim Broadbent, Richard Roxburgh, John Leguizamo, Jacek Koman, Caroline O'Connor

Luhrmann's celebration of Montmartre is a delirious jukebox musical, mashing up Labelle with Nirvana and generally playing out like La traviata on steroids. Gloriously extravagant if you're in the mood, possibly overheated if you're not, it's a suitably over-the-top climax to its director's Red Curtain trilogy.

Eastbourne Bandstand

The current bandstand was opened by Lord Leconfield in 1935 and is now 'the busiest bandstand in the United Kingdom' seating 1600 people on three levels. An iconic landmark on the Eastbourne seafront, with its blue domed roof and silver spire, the bandstand now hosts approximately 150 outdoor events and concerts per year.

The bandstand is roughly ten minutes walk from Eastbourne railway station.
