It's a cold, bleak, biting Christmas Eve and old miser Scrooge is not full of the Christmas spirit.  In fact he hates Christmas!  But on returning home he suddenly finds himself visited by four ghostly apparitions come to teach him a lesson; his old partner Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come.

Each ghost in turn shows him scenes of his life as it was and could be but as Christmas day dawns are these apparitions and their dire warnings enough to make Scrooge see the error of his ways?

Join Old Scrooge on his journey of enlightenment in Quantum Theatre's delightful and heart-warming new production of the Dickens Christmas classic.

Skipton Camerata: Farrenc Symphony No.3

Skipton Camerata: Farrenc Symphony No.3

After a century and a half of neglect, Louise Farrenc's Third Symphony is now widely recognised as a masterpiece. Despite being held in high regard by many of her contemporaries, Farrenc was doubtless the greatest overlooked composer of her day. Hers is an ardently romantic and strikingly original voice, and her Symphony No 3 dating from 1847 is as vibrant and inventive as any symphony by Schumann or Mendelssohn.

Ben Crick gives Farrenc's symphonic masterpiece pride of place in a programme that includes three very different pieces from the 18th Century written within fifteen years of each other, and the first performance of Uprising by Florence Anna Maunders.

Dittersdorf Double Bass Concerto No.2

Haydn Symphony No.48 Maria Theresia

Maunders Uprising (first performance)

Skipton Camerata: Handels Messiah

Ben Crick and Skipton Building Society Camerata are joined by the talented voices of The Clothworkers Consort of Leeds for a performance of Handel's Messiah.

Originally an Easter offering, Handels 1741 oratorio for singers, choir and orchestra has become a regular fixture in the lead up to Christmas. As popular now as it was over two and a half centuries ago, Messiah represents the best of Handel's choral music ranging from the heartfelt simplicity of 'I know that my Redeemer liveth' to the grandeur of the famous 'Hallelujah' chorus.

Skipton Music Presents: Borealis Saxophone Quartet

For the third concert in our series for 2021/22, Skipton Music welcomes one of the UK's leading saxophone quartets for a lively and varied evening's entertainment

They have also made numerous television and radio appearances, including a BBC Proms broadcast for Radio 3, and a feature on 'Good Morning Belgrade' whilst on tour in Serbia.

In 2019 the Quartet was selected as 'BBC Introducing Artists' and performed live on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune'. We are delighted to welcome them to Skipton with a programme that will include music by Bach, Gershwin, Bernstein and Jennifer Higdon.
