The BBC National Orchestra of Wales gave its first concert in 1928 as the Cardiff Station Orchestra, and received its current name in 1993. It is Orchestra-in-Residence at St David's Hall and has a busy schedule of performances and recordings. The current prinicipal conductor is Thomas Søndergård.
