The Upper Clun Valley
A gentle start meandering through the quaint town of Clun, skirting the medieval castle before joining the Shropshire Way and crossing the River Unk, following an old path through woods. A short stretch on a metalled road until we reach a green lane leading to open fields crossing to Little Hall farm. We then cross the Newcastle to Clun road and have a steep climb up to a spectacular viewpoint, taking in the hamlet of Whitcott Keyset and the village of Newcastle-on-Clun, where we will have our coffee stop. Then onwards towards Burfield Farm, taking in Llanfair Hill and Offa's Dyke to Garbett Hall before returning via Rockhill, with spectacular views of Clun and it's prominent castle. Then back to Clun and a visit to a teashop for a welcome pot of tea and cake (cost not included in the ticket price).
