Mathilde (Bercot), a battle-hardened war correspondent, writes a story about a combat unit of Kurdish women led by Bahar (Farahani), fighting ISIS. Although it’s based on actual events the treatment is so hackneyed and sentimental that it feels clunky and melodramatic, and the best efforts of fine actors like Bercot and Farahani are let down by the clichéd screenplay.
