The tale of the 19th century battle to become the company that runs America’s electrical system, featuring mercurial showman Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch) and stolid engineer George Westinghouse (Shannon). Despite elegant cinematography and impressive set-pieces, it feels like an epic saga squashed into a tight canvas; a solid period drama that never quite comes to life.
