Natasha (Shahidi) and Daniel (Melton) meet and wander around Manhattan for a day, while she’s struggling to keep her family from being deported to Jamaica. The blissed-out love letter to New York tonally jars with the underlying pessimism, and plot contrivances let its good intentions down, but it looks luminous and the flaws deserved to be overlooked.
