After living wild for a week, Astrid's son returns home without saying a word. Her family seems to be disintegrating only to form itself anew. With nods to Bresson and Ozu, Angela Schanelec's masterfully composed film often places its camera at a discrete distance, providing its protagonists the space, time and humour they need for rediscovery. Parallel narratives are woven together with such simple virtuosity and beauty that Schanelec was awarded Best Director at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival.
