Seasoned prostitute Joanne (Groome) and a lost young girl called Kelly (Stanley) exist in a world of pushers, pimps and kingpin London gangsters. Williams' impressive debut feature sticks steadfastly to the tested 'hard boiled flick' formula and the finely structured result is curiously joyless, but you'll be pushed to recall a recent British film more visceral or seamlessly executed.
