The Toronto-based Indian filmmaker delivers the final part of her elements trilogy. Set in 1938, eight year-old Chuyia (Sarala), already a widow, is sent to an Ashram run by a despotic old fat woman Madhumati (Manorma). The film's making was delayed by controversy, and the result feels slightly compromised but remains a riveting tearjerker with stunning visuals.
