Emma (Taylor-Joy) is a self-important matchmaker blinded by snobbery and youthful hubris. It’s in keeping with the vogue for complex, unapologetic heroines but the comedy is rather hit and miss and it looks great. Taylor-Joy’s alert performance makes Emma her own.
