Zingarina (Argento) arrives in Transylvania, in the heart of Romania, to track down her lover Milan (Castoldi), a musician who has abandoned her, leaving her confused and pregnant. After he rejects her, Zingarina throws herself into the strange forbidding foreignness of Transylvania. The film suffers from clunky dialogue and weak plotting but is visually stunning and a fine example of Gatlif's unique freeform cinema.
