Biopic of Ian Curtis, the enigmatic lead singer of Joy Division, based on the biography written by his former wife, Deborah, 'Touching from a Distance'. Corbijn's decision to shoot in black and white captures the bleak setting of 1970s Macclesfield, and Riley perfectly imitates Curtis' chilling live performances. A haunting portrait of a man struggling to balance married life, his sudden success, and debilitating epilepsy made worse by his rock star lifestyle.
