Zemeckis' 1988 mixed up live-action-with-cartoons experiment resulted in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'. Here he shows how much the technique has evolved in two decades, bringing the ancient Anglo-Saxon poem to life. Much of the initial wow factor is down to special effects, but a cracking screenplay by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary makes for an all-round superior blockbuster.
