After a damaging divorce, wealthy Parisian lawyer Charles (Darroussin) swaps his luxurious lifestyle for a more meagre existence on a housing estate. Nurturing a charitable impulse which threatens to do more harm than good, Charles becomes entangled in the plight of his various neighbours.
