Philippe Abrams (Merad) is sent to the town of Bergues, in the far, far north where apparently it's cold, the people are basic and they talk in an incomprehensible dialect (Ch'ti). Predictably, Bergues is not so bad. Surprisingly this middle-of-the-road farce is the most successful French movie of all time.
This film is not currently showing in cinemas.
(Bienvenue Chez les Ch’tis)
Postal manager Philippe imagines he’s being relocated to the Cote d’Azur.. but he’s being sent to…the North! People in the South of France imagine that the North is cold, dull and inhabited by savages who can’t speak French. Some of this seems to be true - the food is strange, the weather is cold and the people (known as ch'tis) speak a brand of French all but incomprehensible to southerners - try speaking French with a Welsh accent while eating an apple. Philippe is in for some hilarious surprises in France’s most popular comedy - ever. Schimlply hilarioushch! (France 2008)
