Two strangers meet on a train. They "exchange murders," each killing the person the other wants dead. They would both have airtight alibis for the time of the crime, and there would be no possible connection between killer and victim. One treats it as a joke the other is deadly serious. Alfred Hitchcock directs Raymond Chandler's tense screenplay - based on Patricia Highsmith's first book (USA 1951)
