Filmed on location in postwar Rome using non-professional actors, Shoeshine tells the story of two young boys who work on the streets shining the shoes of American troops. When the boys are implicated in a petty crime, they are punished severely by society and tragedy ensues. One of the benchmark films of Italy's post war neo-realist film movement.
