“It’s alive!” We are thrilled to present a monster double-bill of two of the most influential horror films of all time. With these legendary films, British director James Whales is rewardingly unfaithful to Mary Shelley’s famous source novel of a mad scientist who creates a new life from the body parts of the dead. Whale borrows only the essence of the premise and changes nearly everything else, from the characters and updated setting to Jack Pierce’s famous square-headed and bolt-necked make-up design for the title monster. With a liberal use of humour and exaggerated, expressionistic visual style these films transcend the horror genre and become two of the most deceptively complex ‘creature features’ ever conceived.
Fancy-dress isn’t just for kids! Come dressed in a Hammer Horror inspired outfit to be in with the chance of winning free Hippodrome tickets. The café / bar will be serving frightfully good refreshments in advance and during the interval.
Double-bill: Two films for the price of one. This double-bill will have reserved seating so you can return to your reserved seat after the interval.
