Brazilian filmmaker Meirelles' adaptation of José Saramago's novel about the impact of a blindness epidemic on a city. Meirelles has reduced the story to be more about the plight of a doctor and his wife (Ruffalo and Moore) who are forced into quarantine when the doctor loses his sight. Stark and flawed attempt at fin de siècle sci-fi.
