Indian scout Calamity Jane (Day) is hard-riding, boastful and handy with a gun. She has to be, living as she does in Deadwood, Dakota, a place where men are men and women are toothsome. When Jane falls in love with a young army lieutenant she realises she may have to change, because he really does not appreciate her more butch qualities.

Our secret love for Calamity Jane is no secret anymore. Join us to celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of the screen’s most beloved, Oscar-winning musicals at the Grand Ole Opry. Enjoy Doris Day in her signature role as she rolls in on the Deadwood Stage to feud and fight and fall head over heels for Howard Keel’s Wild Bill Hickok. Then take your partners and head for the floor as a live band invites you to dance the night away. Gingham and stetsons are not required but you might look awful purty if you wore ‘em. If you enjoyed last year’s Gene Kelly Ceilidh then book early for our Calamity Jane Barn Dance!
