Novelist Michael Waechter's (Reynolds) autobiographical account of his childhood is about to put the boot into his mum (Roberts), his frustrated academic dad (Dafoe) and his sister (Watson). Throw in Michael's sexy ex-wife, and the discovery of his mother's secret lover and you've got an all star soap opera, but one which director Dennis Lee never brings to the boil. A high calibre dud.
